Maddron-Albright Area Hiking Trails

Albright Grove Loop Trail

Taking the Maddron Bald Trail up the mountain to Albright Grove, there is a little loop trail that is probably no shorter than a mile. Taking this short loop will give you access to some primitive buildings and some of the last primitive old growth trees left in the park.

Maddron Bald Trail

Maddron Bald Trail begins at a parking lot off the US 321/TN 73 road.  It is a total of 7.3 miles long.  The first 1.2 miles lead you from the parking lot to a trail intersection.  To the right is the Old Settlers Trail, which takes you 15.8 miles toward the Greenbrier area.  To the left is the Gabes Mountain Trail, which takes you 6.6 miles toward the Cosby Campground and Ranger Station.  Going straight, the Maddron Bald Trail continues up-mountain 6.1 miles to the intersection of Snakes Den Ridge Trail.  From here, hikers can then take the Snake Den Ridge Trail 0.7 miles to access the Appalachian Trail.  Campsite #29 is located on the Maddron Bald Trail, between Albright Grove and Snakes Den Ridge Trail.
