The Hammer In brings Master Bladesmiths\, forging enthusiasts\, and knife collectors from across the United States to demonstrate their skills and to learn the art and science of hand forged knife making. Master Bladesmiths will give demonstrations and hold classes on a number of topics ranging from coal and gas forging to fabrication of handles and guards and engraving. DESCRIPTION:Asheville Gallery of Art’s January 2019 show\, “A Colorful Beginning” ushers in the year with an expressive interpretation of color by more than 20 member artists. The show runs January 2-31 during gallery hours\, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11-4 p.m. Sunday. The gallery\, located at 82 Patton Avenue in downtown Asheville across from Pritchard Park\, will host a reception for the artists on Friday\, January 4\, from 5-8 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited to stop by. After the holiday decorations come down\, and before life settles once again into the gray days of winter\, start the new year off right by surrounding yourself with the bright glow and warmth of colorful works of art. Each artist brings his or her unique interpretation of color to this group show. Now in its 30th year\, Asheville Gallery of Art\, noted for its diversity of styles\, mediums\, and techniques\, promises a show that will uplift and cheer you as you wait for spring. The pieces for the show\, as well as the work of all 31 gallery members\, will be on display and for sale through the month of January.
